“Life is a journey, not a destination”. Ralph Waldo Emerson
It has been a journey indeed... In 2001 I followed my dream to live near the ocean, leaving my hometown of Waterloo, Ontario to begin a new chapter in Victoria, BC. It was not an easy road, but a transformative one. I eventually settled near the stunning waters of Qualicum Beach alongside my talented partner and our creative, determined daughter. In my spare time I enjoy paddle boarding, travelling, hiking, reading and simply spending time with family and friends.
I began my professional life as a certified teacher, working in both private and public sectors. During this time, my passion for travel inspired a part-time career in aviation which has spanned over 20 years. When I returned to graduate school, I focused on mental health and addictions. During my program I volunteered at a crisis line, and later accepted a clinical placement at a public detox facility and in mental health housing. After moving to Qualicum Beach I branched into hospice as Coordinator, where I designed and facilitated bereavement groups and provided private grief support. Much of my work has been inspired by trauma specialist, Dr. Gabor Mate, and grief expert, David Kessler. The experience I have gained is invaluable, and the students and clients I have interacted with will stay in my heart for the rest of my life.
Throughout my career I've always imagined creating something of my own. With this dream along with years of education and experience, my private practice was born. It is a great honour to help people rebuild and reimagine their lives, and I look forward to meeting you.
